Banana Tree Leaf
Photographed at the Chicago Botanic Garden back in mid-May. D700, 200mm macro. I converted this image to b/w, which is posted immediately below the color version. Comments welcome.

Awesome, Kerry. Not sure you know this, but back home in India (especially South India) having food on Banana Leaf is quite popular. The banana leaf adds some flavour to the hot food

I think the Color image is my pick but I think the b&w would be nicer larger it brings out the texture in the upper left a bit more than the color.

Very nice, Kerry. The composition and lines are really clean and well presented. I prefer the color version, and can even see several compositions within the frame (along the same basic compositional frame, but more intimate), and I really like the lighting here as well, especially along the diagonal.

I like both versions, Kerry, and for different reason. The soft lighting and composition in the color version are wonderful. The B&W version looks like something out of an old sci-fi movie to me. The scale becomes less apparent and it could be anything.

Very cool Kerry. What caught my eye was the transition of textures both vertically and horizontally.

I prefer the B&W version which seems to bring the textures out.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Ram, thanks for the story re the use of banana leaf as a--plate, of sorts--in India. I wasn't aware of that.
