I shot this in the third week in April at CVNP along the trail to Blue Hen Falls. The light and conditions weren't right for the falls, but I did enjoy shooting this little spring flower and the friend who showed up just as I was shooting.
In the field I thought it was a trout lily, but when I followed up, I knew that wasn't right. I have no background in insect ID's so any help on either the flower or the bug would be greatly appreciated. Comments welcome on the image as well.

Brian,
The timing, location and petals scream Trout Lily to me, except that the stamens seem to be abnormal. Do you have any photos that include the leaves?
I don't know from bugs, but I found a "sweat bee" with an online search.
Beautiful capture, by the way.

The flower looks like a Trout Lily to me too, Brian, although I can't be sure. As for the insect, Chuck is correct..it is a sweat bee, or Augochloropsis metallica...also known as a green sweat bee. Nice capture of both the bee and flower!
Thanks for the ID help and the comments, they are all very much appreciated. I am still wondering why this flower doesn't have the same stamens that you see in trout lily images, but I don't know all that much about the life and times of flowers, either.
