Foxglove and bee
Hi all, small amount of cropping to format and then light working in lightroom and photoshop.

Nikon D90
50mm f1.8 @ f4 & 1/250th second no flash

All c&c welcome.

Good attempt at a surprisingly trick shot to get right. The thing that isn't working for me is the composition; the bee/foxglove need to be more central and higher in the frame. Alternatively, the shot is primarily about the relationship between the bee and the flower so I'd have maybe gone for a tighter landscape format of what you've got here.

Cheers,
Chris

a very good effort at what is undoubtedly a very difficult shot to pull off. I would have to agree with Chris about the composition. The lean of the foxglove and the fact the bee is therefore in the bottom right corner doesn't quite work for me. But we are being picky - this is still a very decent shot.

How you managed to get this at 1/250sec I dont know. I can shoot these at 1/800000 sec and they are still blurred! I agree with the above about the crops. Either go for a landscape crop or crop the left hand side off and go for a tighter portrait. :toast:

hi, have reworked this as suggested into a horizontal format, reckon your right this would have worked better, shutter speed was 1/250 be was virtually stationary hovering.

I really like the first shot. I think you should try a tighter portrait format and crop off the left hand side.
