Hello there,
Just recently joined this fine group of folks and must say, I'm a bit in awe at all of the talent here.
I've been working with a DLSR for about 2 years now, but have enjoyed nature photography for many years. I shoot with a Nikon D90, and use mainly a Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VRI lens.
I was a member of the Maryland PPA, then moved to Georgia and became a member there. However, I have just realized that my photography might not be exactly PPA material-since I do not shoot people.
Although, I did shoot an Anhinga, which got me a 3rd place win at one of the Maryland PPA competitions.
So, mostly I shoot nature/flowers/wildlife/and the occastional pet. Not doing this full time, but one day would like to. Once I'm a bit more brave, I'll post some of the images I've done.
Marie: Great to have you aboard and hope you'll post some of your work in Flora soon. A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step. BTW, I find it much nicer shooting things that don't talk back. >=))>
Welcome Marie. I have only been on here a few months but find it entirely enjoyable. I have learned so much from both posting pictures, and also observing and occasionally commenting on others images. Hope to see many of your shots!
I agree with Bill: "A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step." So, please post some of your work. The folks here are willing and able to provide valuable critique and inspiration.
Also, be sure to check out the NPN Regional Group that best matches your location. These groups are great for posting images and for location-specific information, as well as meet-ups.
Marie, welcome! I tell ya, everything and I mean everything about the way I shoot and even think about photography has totally changed since I found this site four years ago. The shooters here are the best of the best, and at least one of them is in a major photo magazine every month, yet we can sit here and bounce ideas off 'em and get critiques. My most favorite attribute of this site is that you'll get honest feedback, and let me tell ya, if it isn't all that great, you are told that too. Nothing has helped my photography more than that.
Hi Marie. Come on in, the water is fine. Competition and critique were key to growing in photography for me, and fun as well. Please leave comments on other's images and post some pictures soon.
I'm in awe of a lot of the talent and ability here too but that just makes the comments and suggestions all the more valuable. Hope to see some posts soon.
Hi, Marie! I like what Bill said: "I find it much nicer shooting things that don't talk back." So, you've found the right place. Looking forward to your images. Welcome!
Hi Marie,
I love your first post, and I think you'll fit in just fine here! Whats great is that there are people from all levels, some beginners, and plenty of pros, so everyone is able to improve their work! Hope you enjoy it!
