I hiked the Rocky Ridge - Soberanes Creek 2k vert 5 mile loop Saturday. Those hills peak most years mid to late May but with the cooler wetter weather this year that has been delayed. Most species peaked in late May and grasses are now browning so not as aesthetic as when greener. However late season species like poppies, clarkias, lizardtail, and linanthus were peaking. Was quite a reptile fest right on the trail surface. Saw dozens of western fence swift and California whiptail lizards, a couple Gilbert's skinks, a northern rubber boa, and one fat northern Pacific rattlesnake. Along the creek trail lots of poison oak though avoidable if one pays attention.

Thanks for the update, Richard. I'll try to visit the Park soon.

If we only had teleports we could all meet there for few shots and be back home for dinner. Thanks for the info Richard! I hope I get to make it there. We should all save up for the next El Nino year and just shoot non stop.

This place is set to explode in flowers in the next few weeks. It might be worth a trip.
Although that pesky marine layer keeps messing with the sunset…
