Yellow Rock
D2x
12-24mm @ 24mm
f/16 @ 1/125 sec

Now that I work this one, I see that I should have focused more on the white/yellow/lichen arraignment in the lower right.

The hike up to this area is a semi serious suffer fest and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone not comfortable with a steep and loose trail. If you go though, prepare to be amazed and to take a couple hundred or so photos.

Mark,
I'm having troubllle with the scale. I would have to guess since you had to hike far up a steep path, your looking at a large and vast area. That yellow is pretty darn intresting with it abruptly stopping at the bottom of the hill. What caused it to be like this?

I think you could almost cover that lichen circle in the LR with your hand. Since it's a low angle shot I'd say you're looking up at about 7 or 8 feet of rock. This distinct line went on for at least 50 feet though. The whole Yellow Rock could easily be a square mile. Of course, not all of it is wild like this but a large, large, part is.
