Weathermen head east. Cloudman heads west.

Here's a couple from yesterday afternoon on the west side of Cottonwood Pass. I drove straight to the pass from home, had about 30 minutes of these conditions, then it was socked in for a while before giving me another 15 minute opportunity. Without looking at a map, I'm pretty sure this is the West Apostle. It's a stitch of two horizontal images, one on top the other.

#2: Another Cottonwood Pass shot.

#3: And here's one from this morning of Tomichi Dome. It was a tough shoot, because it was incredibly hazy, with differing layers of fog creating problems in getting images to not look like they're taken through frosted glass. I worked this to show a bit of improvement over actual conditions, but not much.

I've got a bunch of stuff from this weekend, and will post more over the next few days. Anyone else get out for this event? Rocky looked like it would've been a great place to be.

Love the layers of clouds and the perspective you got. Pretty dreary along the front range.

Very nice clouds - especially on the last one .

Good move Todd, I like 'em all :toast:

all excellent shots but I especially love #1!

Ditto. All really nice shots, but #1 stands out above the others with the warm tones down in the trees and the cool, snowy peak above.

Todd,
All are great shots, middle one is my favorite.

Oooh, very dramatic stuff. Love the reddish landscape against cold blue mountains and clouds. And a nice Tomichi view too! Where was that from?

These are AWESOME. I like all three, but with a gun to my head i guess id go for the top one. Fog chasing can be a worthy pursuit, and depending on what road you take its probably more dangerous than tornado chasing.

All three are good but I favor #1 the most...very productive sessions!

The warm cool contrast in #1 works really nice offsetting the compression of the telephoto to create depth.

Great work, Todd. I like them all, but there is something very powerful about #2 that really grabs me. There is a fascinating image hiding in #3 if you crop just above the middle hill.

Excellent captures one and all!
I really like the telephoto perspective you achieved. How did you do that?
Seriously though, I need to remember to do this more often. I can get so hung up with the wide angle view that I miss the trees for the forest.

Cloudman hits another one out of the ball park. Well done!

Great shots, Todd.
I was kayaking in Buena Vista Sunday evening and Monday. I was going to camp up on Cottonwood Sunday night but ended up camping along the Arkansas River north of BV. The mountains sure looked good with a fresh coat of snow! Makes me wish I had gone with my first choice.

I like the second one. Looks as if I could run and jump off the edge and land on a soft blanket of clouds.

You are just too consistent to be lucky, Cloudman. These are all outstanding! The compressed layers in 1 and 3 are terrrific.
