This shot of a European Bee-eater taken on the Greek Island of Lesbos has got me thinking of warmer weather. Canon EOS 1V + 500 f4.5 + x1.4 on Provia 100. Scanned on a Nikon Coolscan and processed in PS CS.
I'm not sure re the BG - I feel a more uniform BG might have improved the image!
One of the Bee Eater family. Very colourful and Summer feeling. I don't mind the BG apart from wanting a little separation from the birds head and the flowers. Also the flower head bottom of frame (end of perch rock) is distracting.
Very attractive overall.

Hi Rob
Sorry forgot the name, it is a European Bee-eater. Yes re the flower head and I have also removed the '____' on the rock as I posted the same image in the Avian forum and Juza pointed out that removing the 'white stuff' as he put it would improve the image. So I have reposted!
.... and it is an adult bird - the juveniles have greeny/blue grey backs, not the gold flash of the adults

Lovely image! We all strive for clean backgrounds, but sometimes this type of shot captures the moment so much better...............works for me................roll on April, and I'll be back there.

Hi David
great shot of a beautiful bird. Yellow BG behind the bird's head is a bit distracting.

Hi David
Loveley splash of colour indeed. Clean up with second image improves things I feel.
BG doesn't put me off at all. Great capture.
Managed some myself in lesbvos last May.
