My apologies for the slightly garbled text below...I've re-posted this a number of times and for some reason the system is NOT liking me today - sentences and paragraphs seem to be randomly floating around no matter what I do! Everything's fine until part way down the page (point #2) and then chaos takes over. I'll try editing it again later to see if the gremlins have left...

As is becoming the pattern, last week we saw a very large number of compelling images in the Fauna Gallery. And, as always, selecting the Pick of the Week was no easy task! I feel compelled to mention several photographers (and images) that would have caught anyone's eye!

1. Marsel van Oosten continued his ways of posting very stunning and inspiring images. This week he contributed two images that were, to various degrees a little "outside the box" both for him and for wildlife photography in general. I encourage you to check out both "Crossing the Zambezi" and "Gold Dust". And, if you do so, spend some time reading both his commentaries and the comments of others on the images. It would be well worth your time!

2. And lots of lots of fox images (and the trend continues this week). There were a number of excellent images of foxes in the past week that were a pleasure to view, including Kurt Bowman's "Resting for a While" and "Fun in the Field", Jay Ryser's , and May Haga's [url=http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/ic.cgi?a=vp&pr=149337&CGISESSID=175269c2cabdb7653e1b9e48e18541af&u=6523]"Curious Kit".

The Pick of the Week? You guessed it - another fox image. This one by Edwin Kats - entitled simply "Red fox cub". I felt that the combination of the great pose and expression on the face of the fox kit (cub), the beautiful perch it was on, plus Edwin's typical flawless execution left me little choice but to select this image as the Pick of the Week! Congratulations on capturing such a fine shot Edwin!

Of course, this is only a small sampling of the excellent images posted in the last week. My apologies in advance to those I've overlooked! Thanks to all who posted images in the Fauna Gallery last week!
