Among all the cool formations we saw on our Memorial Weekend trip to Bisti, I found this object which, to me, looks like a fossilized egg. It was (and still is) located on the flats of one of the remote washes. Numerous dinosaur fossils have been found in the Bisti area. So I'm wondering if this could be a fossilized dinosaur egg.

Any paleontologists in the crowd? What do you think?

Scott, I don't know a thing about this subject, but it sure looks like one to me. Especially with how it cracked, but still holding together like some sort of soft skin under the shell is there. Hope someone that knows will chime in. Did you peek inside the hole? did anything look back at you? Sorry...had to ask...

Scott, most likely it is one of the numerous iron rich concretions found throughout the Fruitland Formation. I have not ever heard of dinosaur egg molds weathering out and being found laying around in a wash. But, hey, it makes for a great story, and nobody can prove you wrong.

These are the real dino eggs in Bisti. Notice the multilayered shell protection.
Not true, i also found one of those, stuck it in an incubator, and now i have a baby T-Rex. I have it in my basement right now, im feeding it Miller moths...
re: Bill's dino egg photo. Those things look suspiciously like those pods that were incubating the babies in the first "Alien" movie. I would NOT stand over one of them and raise the face shield on my space suit!

Bill is correct. It is just a concretion.
