having recently posted a female Banded Demoiselle, this time I thought I'd post a male. All C+C welcomed.

Canon 7D with Sigma 150mm lens, f9, 1/80, live view, cable release.

Here's a 1100 pixel version.

That'll do nicely.. It's quite frustrating when they open their wings in the position as it causes all sorts of DOF issues but illustrates the species very well. You've got the detail and colour spot on as usual Matt.

thanks Brett, to be honest I was quite pleased this one opened its wings as I think it shows them off quite nicely and adds a bit of interest. I have the same shot with the wings closed but prefer this one. I'll be interested to see what others think.

Sorry Matt, must be the way I typed it! I do like it as it is and have similar images for that very reason.. I just meant it's difficult to get all the wing tips in focus, no nit intended just an observation from trying the same thing myself

Bags of detail, BG is spot on, a portrait orientation would be my preference.

Exquisite Matt, great colours.

More on the rhs, less on the lhs for me, Mr predictable.

It's nice with the displaying wings, love the light and DOF perfection.

However you cut that Matt, it's beautifully taken. I rather like the wing positions and the fact that you can clearly see all four of them even though they are all at different angles.

Good stuff !
Nice to see one displaying as opposed to just sitting.

Lovely shot - would have also preferred a portrait orientation as suggested above.

You've coped with the positioning of the wings very well indeed. This species obviously likes woundwort.
