Ptarmigan
Captured this ptarmigan this morning on Mount Evans. The light was a little harsh, so I thought I would try to backlight the ptarmigan.
Sure I was quite the sight. Laying on the side of the road getting this low angle.

Thanks for looking.

As long as you weren't laying IN the road.

Another sweet shot Dan. The backlight looks great IMO.

This is really a nice shot! Nice job handling the tough light.

May be the best ptarmigan image I've ever seen. Your choice of backlighting the scene was wise, and it works so very well here. The background is absolutely perfect, too.
Is the bird's feathers transitioning from winter to summer?

Great image of a Ptarmigan! One of my favorite birds - I see a lot of them in Denali and never tire of getting new photos of them.
