Lyall's Angelica or Giant Hog Weed?
Spent the week shooting the iconic Painted Hills, the Cascade Lakes Area and around Sisters and Camp Sherman. I came back with a nice infusion of RAW files to play with.

Discovered this scene at the Metolius Headwaters. The early light was good and I liked how the tangled branches framed the wild flower. My field guide indicates this could be either Angelica or Hog Weed. I'm leaning toward the Angelica. Any help with positive ID?

Thanks for looking.

Bruce, can't help you with the ID, but your title reminded me of an old Genesis song, "The Return of the Giant Hogweed." I didn't think there was such a thing...and of course I am dating myself with that Genesis reference.

Ok, on to the scene. I agree that the tangled branches frame the flower nicely. I also really like the greens.

In the Midwest we call this Cow Parsnip (Heracleum maximum).
