B&W mono-coating vs MRC?

Are there any significant differences in IQ when using multi vs mono coatings on B&W CP's? I'm looking at the Sigma 24-70 HSM but the 82mm filter might be a deal breaker if I also have to shell out the large $ for the more costly filter.
I know what the marketing says, any first hand experience out there?
Thanks

In my experience, a mutli-coated filter will produce more accurate color with less flare. However, if you use a polarizer infrequently, i.e. only when you really, really need it, the expense of a mutli-coated filter would not be warranted, imho.

For infrequent use, a mono-coated filter would work, but you'd have to careful to eliminate flare.

My thoughts are that if you are willing to get good lenses, you might as well get good filters to put in front of the good glass. Otherwise, it seems self-defeating. That is the way I view it, anyway.

Thanks guys for the sage advice. I rarely don't have a polarizer on and Harley your point is glaringly obvious.
