Fire in the Sky
Sunrise at Lake Abraham, just east of the Saskatchewan Crossing in Banff National Park, Alberta.

An amazing sunset, Howard! Well captured, amigo.
Was this taken during Darwin Wiggett's workshop (..can't fathom why you were in Saskatchewan otherwise  ) ? Would love to hear about your experience there!

The forms and lighting make this a real winner.

The shot was taken the morning of June 3rd, the last day of a 5 day photo tour conducted by Darwin Wiggett. That far North, the days are long; this sunrise happened around 5:20am and the sun did not set that day until around 9:30pm. That meant getting up at OMG 4:30 in the morning, driving about 30 minutes to Lake Abraham, and then standing in the freezing wind and rain (at my back) waiting to see if something was going to happen. Considering how heavy the cloud cover was overhead, it was quite a surprise when the sky opened up with these fireworks when the sun finally crept above the horizon. Other than cropping, the only PP to the original image was to lighten the foreground.

Remarkable image and one of the best SR's I've seen in awhile.
