Same as last time camera was set up for the woodpecker and along came what I believe is a young male.He is becoming to brave now this was full frame so have added some canvas on the right hand side to give it some compostion the best I could.I know he is getting to comfy in my garden as he decided to do a bit of plucking and usually when its a small bird they will fly straight off with it.

Hi Karen,

great sharp shot with nice low point of view :toast:

I used to have one visiting my garden last year, I always had mixed feelings about it. I wanted it to turn up but not to have any of my regulars

Nits covered, a very fine image indeed. Never mind cutting the grass, I think the daisies add to the image  Wish I had one in my garden....I think..

Nice one Karen.

Excellent shot Karen.
Looks like he's so comfy,he's waited for you to get the lawnmower out,cut the daisies from behind him,put the mower back in the shed and then get back to the camera and take his picture. Or are you telling me there just happened to be a line of daisies where he landed?

The grass had not been cut at all Phil there are daisies dotted about all over my lawn(weeds),if you think I put them there you are certainly mistaken I am not that clever, it you need a picture of my lawn complete with all the daisies I will happily send you one if you like, this is the image that I saw and was lucky enough to have taken

Keep those daisies in the lawn, they certainly add to the picture. Excellent shot.

Daisies are a great excuse not to cut the grass Karen. I must remember that one....

Glad to see that you are getting closer to this species.

Cheers

Hi Karen,I've just seen your reply to my comments and so need to put the record straight.
I actually meant the exact opposite to what you read and understood me to have said.
I wasn't saying that you had added any daisies. As you say, your lawn is covered in daisies (like mine) but there were none in the background of the image. So you were either lucky in that respect or like me,you would have cloned them out.
I was just commenting on your 'comfy' sparrowhawk and trying to be amusing by saying that he was so comfy that he allowed you to get the mower out,cut out the daisies and get behind the camera again.
There was nothing 'negative' intended and as my comments originally started,I will end with : excellent image Karen.

ok Phil see what you mean now I did clone out a few white blobs from the background which would have been the daisies so take your point, thought you meant I had added them, and thanks for the comment much appreciated
