Christine Falls Framed--Reposted
Up at Mount Rainier 2 weeks ago. It was a beautiful day. Had bright sun and dark shadows to fight with. Shot this one of Christine Falls. I kind of like the framing of the falls using different wood textures. But I was also wondering if it was too much or maybe cropped differently. Comments appreciated.

Hi Don, an interesting take on the fall. It makes for an interesting study...the frame tends to be a bit busy, drawing my eye from the waterfall...probably also because the fall is in the shade and so much darker than the frame subject matter. I think it's a fun experiment and does seem to work. Not sure, but warming it up, so the waterfall was less blue might really make things pop.

I like the idea Don and I think it would work nicely with better light as David mentioned. The bridge arching over the falls is a nice perspective I haven't seen before. However, the appeal of Christine stands on its own very well and I'm not sure adding anything to the scene other than the falls and it's immediate surroundings can improve it, IMHO.

I like the idea of framing this with the trees as it is something a little different from what you usually see. I would lose the rail and its associated carved initials, etc. that is framing the bottom. Unfortunately by doing so you lose some of the splash area of the waterfall...a higher and/or slightly closer vantage point may have made a difference. I also might be tempted to crop from the left to eliminate the open "V" in the ULC.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I tried to crop out the"V" in the ULC and I didn't like the way it looked.
It took too much of the snag out and looked out of place. Cropping the rail from the bottom you lose some of the splash area and that didn't look right either. So I cropped just a little off the rail to leave the splash pool and warmed it up a bit.

I like it better but now it seems a bit on the warm side. I also have trouble getting by your watermark. IMHO of course!

The glow of the light on the underside of the bridge looks like the unsung hero in this shot. Much better warmed up as on the repost. Fun seeing a different view of a favorite place. Nice going.

Don, I like the second version better. Experiments are always fun, and I believe that the majority of exceptional shots we see are some sort of experiment. I do not care for the snag on the left but otherwise well done!.

Don I like the framing here with the trees and bridge. Its a very interesting and unique take on this scene. The warmer version looks better to me, but the color of the water seems a little off. I might try to brighten up the water a bit maybe try to remove some of the yellow from the water. Also might burn that bright spot on the right hand tree. Overall I really like this image.
