I forgot I had this shot until I scrolled right over it yesterday. I was tracking this balloon for about 30+ miles until it landed just into Adams County by about 1000 feet. As I turned the corner to hop out of my car to help rescue this kid who was supposed to be in a balloon I discovered about 30 emergency personnel already waiting at the spot. I just happened to grab my camera and capture this single rescue vehicle hauling butt through a field to assist. We all freaked out when there was no basket with child hanging from the bottom, which is when the search began.
I haven't really worked on the image, so this is an info only post. My favorite part of this day was the 3,000 warnings we heard over the radio to NOT TOUCH THE BALLOON because it had over 3 million volts tied to it, then seeing the guy on tv (and in person) chasing after the balloon and diving after it. Fortunately, it has 0 volts coming from it.

Awesome. I saw the balloon (and the emerg vehicles) from a distance on that great day, as I was out doing some surveying work near Keenesburg. That's a million-dollar photograph.
I watched the whole thing while drinking a beer at a bar, telling everyone who would listen that it was an obvious fake (since ive launched numerous weather balloons and i knew there waws no way that thing would fly like that with a kid in it!)
