Another World
Hey Folks,
Me being an outer space junkie, I couldn't resist posting this image of Mars from the odyssey space craft that is orbiting Mars. I guess you can classify this as nature from a different world. Here is a quote about it from the NASA website "A "Grand Canyon of Mars slices across the Red Planet near its equator. This canyon -- Valles Marineris, or the Mariner Valley -- is 10 times longer and deeper than Arizona's Grand Canyon, and 20 times wider. As the picture shows, you could drop the whole Los Angeles basin into a small part of Valles Marineris and leave plenty of room to spare. In length, the canyon extends far enough that it could reach across the United States from East Coast to West Coast, while its rim stands more than 25,000 feet high, nearly as tall as Earth's Mount Everest." The satellite will be able to transfer between .5 and 5 megabites back to earth a minute for around 500+ days.

Lynn,
I didn't know about Google Mars. I'll have to check it out. I usually roam around on the NASA.gov website. I guess this image is a composite of hundreds of images. Here's a link to more info about it. http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/mars/missions/odyssey/odyssey-20060313.html

John,
Thanks! That was pretty spectacular. You can actually go to NASA's website and download files from 15kb up to around 500kb for your oun personal use. Use this link. http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/galaxy_collection/pr1998014a/
