I photographed this bird eating from this tree in San Salvador, El Salvador. Couldn't find anything similar in my "Birds of Costa Rica" book (which was great, thanks to those who recommended it) - anything pointing me in the right direction would be helpful, thanks.
Hi Luke,
It's a Yellow-winged Tanager, Thraupis Abbas. If you are birding in El Salvador you probably would want a field guide to the Birds of Mexico and Northern Central America (which includes El Salvador) by Steven G. Howell or there's one other field guide for this area which is cheaper and I haven't reviewed.
...now you tell me Just kidding. I think this was the only bird that I couldn't find in the Costa Rica book and it'll come in handy when I head to southern central america in the future. Thanks for the ID and bird suggestion.
