I went up to photogrpah the Hayman area yesterday--figured id make a day of it since id never been up Goose Creek and its been high on my must-see list ever since reading Brent and Jesse's adventures there. Heres the classic shot of the 'hidden valley', i shot mid day so used the clouds to get some interesting light on the creek.
3) (documentary) I remembered that the way to the valley was through a "tight squeeze" in the boulders. Unfortunately, i discovered that there are in fact 2 ways to access the valley--the other way (which i found first and figured at the time was the right way) involves an 8 foot drop off a boulder. My spine aint a kid anymore... Well, on the way back (of course) i found the "correct" way--the tight squeeze (which isnt tight for a skinny guy like me )
Wow, the highlights are burned out from your white skin! Really nice series, especially since I've never been there. The first shot is outstanding, and the mid-day lighting is used at it's best.
Fat boys like myself, especially older fat boys, dont do 8 foot drops off of boulders nor can we squeeze through spaces like the one pictured. So, looks like I wont be visiting this beautiful location......but, you did a fantastic job, Stan, so, I 'll just have to enjoy your shots.

FTFY. Sorry, it had to be done.
Stan, you've got some really killer stuff here. That first one really got my attention. Do you know what lake you're looking down on in the last one? It's not Cheesman, is it? Pikes and Sentinel Point look so cool from that vantage point.
Yeah, thats Cheesman, Todd (which incidentally is closed to public until next spring). Im waiting to here from Mr Speer since i stole his idea for the whale shot (and i ll send you the bill for photo usage )
All great stuff Stan. I love #1, Lost Creek and Hayman is one of my favorite places to go. I was wondering if you've ever made up to the arch in lost creek.

Awesome shots Stan....love the first one and the B&W conversion with the moon is sweet!
Ditto on numbers 1 and 5. Very dramatic. Good use of shading by the clouds. The whale shot, especially with Todd's artistic interpretation, is quite humorous. Well done.

Great series of images! The first one you posted here has a real fantasy-land feel to it. It is a very intriguing place - reminds me a great deal of Vedauwoo in WY. The comp is great and leads the viewer's eye right through the image. The whale rock is too cool. Nice work!

Nice series. Like the squeeze.

Love the second one too, with and without Todd's extra "personality" help.
