Little Owl and long thing ! + pic of set up.
Little Owl (Male)
Still from the first nights session. Pity the worms end is a bit soft but it just went back and forth like a pendulum when he landed. Surprised I got anything at those shooting conditions.
I waited and waited for it to steady but he was off to the chicks before it stopped swaying.
I've got the female started on mealworms so should get some outside perchers when the young have gone which may even be already.
D200
Sigma 100-300
800ISO
50th sec @f5
About 70% of frame.
Levels in CS3 CRIKEY !!

Top draw Mr Robinson, I agree with the above comments, the worm makes the shot!!

Never realised just how long the Little Owls legs were and just how big their feet are.

WOW! CS3 and climbing around like a bearded macaque..! Nice work John. Can I suggest you put some more board behind the perch to help remove the shelf line from the frame..?

I just love your set-ups and what you put yourself through to get these great shots..

Thanks again.
Brett- You can see there's a story here. It's a pasting board placed on the ledge. I didn't realise there was a door below that was used and the farmers wife (80 odd ) nearly had it on her head.. Its now been "adjusted "
Cheers
John
PS
Just realised - with CS3 I can even remove the building !!!
In fact tonight I moved the perch for that very reason. All will be revealed !

Good stuff.

But I don't think your portrait shot was taken from the setup you show.

Thanks again.
David - L.
Think what you like - in fact pop over and show me where it was taken from.
I'd really like to know.
It's comments like yours that are just the kind of encouragement folks need on here. Thanks a lot.

Excellent images of the owl and set-up. Just one question, How do you fit into that hide? It looks a bit cramped to me.

Great shot John and fascinating set up. The hide does look small and in a somewhat precarious position - looks as though you need to replace some of the masking tape! :toast:
