Very endearing creatures, I think you may be able to lighten the cub a bit more and then you will have a winner

A nicely composed and very appealing shot...just needed to be taken at first - or last - light when the shadows wouldn't be so harsh. Have you tried having a go with the Shadows/Highlights slider in photoshop to lighten the shadows? Might make a difference.

The back-lighting has caused under exposure to the face, I had a quick play in CS5 and using the fill light and some extra sharpening it has come up much better

Welcome to the site, Mike. This is a very appealling picture, and I think if you follow the suggestions that others have already made you will be able to improve it further.

Best wishes,

David

Thanks for your suggestions. I will have a go at re- working it and post it later.
