Eclipse over the Mtns
Well, the mtns didn't work out quite as I planned. I chose a high advantage point over the Arkansas River looking towards the Quachitas. The clouds moved out of the way just in time.

Looks like several of us were out this morning. Can't wait to see everyones shots!

Great shot, Mike. Nice color and detail, so I'm guessing you had a relatively unobstructed view. :toast:

Here is more of what I had in mind. There was too much haze in the sky to really make this work, but I still like the way it came out after some work. This is several layers combined to make the sky dark enough for the moon, the trees exposed to where I like them, and then finally the reflection is the third shot.

Hey Bill, this is from Cadron Settlement park overlook just outside of Conway. This gives you more the idea of what I was faced with. I didn't feel like driving up in the mtns to get a view over the rolling hills. Maybe I should have put some effort into it.

First image is at 500mm and the second is 105mm.

Mike, it looks like you had better skies than we did in the Fort Smith area. I like your vantage point in the first shot.

Mike, you did a great job blending these shots together. The top part of the reflection looks a little odd - probably something to do with the cloud.

From what I could tell, there was too much haze to see very far, so the layered hills shot might have been a dud.

Mike I love the colors in both of them nicely done.

Cool.

I went out and as I got to my spot the moon went into a low cloud....never to re-emerge. Glad someone got it!

I like both of these shots, but I think the first one is my favorite of the two. Something about a great big moon in a photo always fascinates me.
