I've seen these only on a couple of occasions in south Louisiana, but this is the first time I've been able to photograph one. I'm inclined to think it's a juvi Clapper, but wasn't sure. Anyone?

Bill:
Where was this photo taken? The reason I ask is that I've been told there are many King/Clapper hybrids at Rockefeller NWR in south Louisiana. Louisiana experts have identified birds that I photographed at Rockefeller as hybrids. I rarely see either and have no confidence in my ability to distinguish between the two.

Dave, this was at Bayou Sauvage NWR, east New Orleans, this morning. Should mention that this one was not at all afraid of me. He jumped up on the boardwalk and got within 6-8 feet of me.

Hi Bill,
Here is a clapper rail I took last year. For sure the head seems to be a perfect match and the wing and back feathers look the same. Mine was taken in different light but look similiar.
