Monitor Calibration for NetBook

I recently purchased a netbook to take on my photography trips. I mostly want it to be able to backup my photos in case something happens to my CF cards and to be able to see the photos I've taken for that day. I don't plan to do any image processing on it. I wanted something lighter than a laptop and had better viewing than my Epson P5000 storage viewer. I know 2 people who have this netbook and have spoken highly of it, but of course mine has a problem. The color on the screen is way too blue and is especially noticable when I'm looking at my photos and know what the correct colors should be. I've tried and tried to use the Windows 7 monitor calibrator to no avail. So I'm wondering if anyone has used an external calibrator on such a small screen. I have a Pantone ColorVision calibrator that I use on my desktop monitor, but was wondering if I should even try this on a netbook. It seems like it would be too large and since it's 5 years old I don't even know if it would work with Windows 7. I would greatly appreciate any helpful information you might have. Thanks.

Carol,

You'll need to find out if your monitor calibration tool's software has been ported to Win 7. If so, download, install it and then give the calibration a try with the Pantone color Vision tool.

I believe the Pantone ColorVision device you have is the equivalent of the Datacolor Spyder. It would not be too big for the screen, since the sensor is relatively small, and only has to be able to see the colored patches which the software throws up on the screen. Check with Pantone for the software or try downloading it from the Datacolor site:
