For a Change
Sand Martins
Back to the project I was working on before the Owls interupted !!
I'd found the spot where the martins were dunking and preening on the pool left in the middle of the quarry. I put some reed stems up and they started to use them at about 7:30 in the evening. The light can get very yellow at that time so there can be some strange hues in the shots and in the backgrounds. The yound birds tend to stop in their family groups when fledged and often fly around in threes and fours- probably the original clutch. They also go back in the holes where the parents have the second clutch.
This one obviously thinks his sibling is his parent and is food begging !
