Here's an image from my one great morning of photography in the Tetons earlier this month. It's an ode to the Cloud Man, aka Todd Caudle. Or is it the other way around? At any rate, this is Mt. Moran as seen from the summit of Signal Peak on a very Todd day. I photographed from 0530 until 1145, and I only stopped because I hadn't eaten anything and my body was on the verge of a malfunction.
Todd: Thanks for loaning me some interesting weather. More importantly, and I'm serious about this, thanks for the inspiration. Thanks to you and the images you make, I knew that if I went to the Signal Peak summit I and the Tetons would be above the clouds. Surprisingly, I had the whole summit to myself.
Ah, Grasshopper, I see you have been paying attention! What a superb shot. And to think, while you were up there with all this Paradise to yourself, 100 photographers and other assorted travelers were down below, grumbling about all those #&%*@! clouds hiding the mountains. Their loss and a big time gain for you.
I guess I shouldn't be shocked at how freaking wintery it looks up there one month ago, but I am.

Nice shot Bret.
I was having some fun chasing the fog around and getting above the clouds a bit last month too.
As for those photographers below the deck, I could be happy as one of them too. That atmosphere could probably provide alot of opportunity around string lake and in the forests. Sure you'd miss out on the oxbow or snake river overlook, but there is more to the park than that.

Beautiful image Bret, love everything about this. All that snow up there looks more wintery than late spring. I had a similar situation there a few years ago, everybody down below was in clouds and I was by myself up on Signal Peak for a beautiful moonset just as the sun was rising.
Buestiful shot Bret! I was probably one of the people below complaining about the clouds . I was up there a couple weeks ago and if someone was patient, the clouds parted below as well.
