Wow, in your face colour! I think this is very nice - love the bground and it gives an almost 3D effect. Lovely.

Hi Nigel,

As a Scot, I'm always happy to see a thistle in a photograph but I'm afraid the intense red from the background takes the emphasis away.

Hi Nigel,

I really like this, the contrast against that bg is very striking. The oof stems are a little annoying, but nothing you can do about that.

Cheers,

Lewis.

I like the thistle very much Nigel (can just see it now on a tin of shortbread ) but have to agree with Chris regarding the red background. The two colours just don't blend I'm afraid. :frown:

Great idea Nigel, and with a 600mm len!

I been passing quite a lot of these when looking for other things and never given them a thought, have to agree about the background though. I think this maybe a good subject for very early morning with low lighting from the side, at just after 7:00 the sun maybe a bit strong then.

The red doesn't bother me, being a colour blind sort I actually thought it was an intense green.

I really don't like the line of OOF heads a third up from the base, they just kill the otherwise clean look this shot has.
