OT: Peru!
I just got back to Colorado on Thursday after a spontaneous three week trip down to Peru! I spent the whole time around Huaraz and the mighty Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash ranges. Three weeks was not nearly enough time; I could have spent months there. I guess I'll just have to return another time...

Anyhow, check out my photos from the trip here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery/peru/

Also some fun snapshots here: http://www.mountainphotographer.com/cordillera-huayhuash-circuit/

I don't think it was my most productive trip ever, photographically speaking, but it was definitely one of my most fun and memorable trips! Now, I look forward to a summer of backpacking in the San Juans.... queue the wildflowers...

Spontaneous 3 week trip to Peru?! Geez must be nice  Fantastic set of images.

Incredible. Especially love this image, the lupines, the tents and stars and just about every b&w you have.

Epic cubed! It dont get any better--your B&Ws are just sick! I think i like the contrast in the 'snapshot' better than your post above. Next time you feel like a 'spontaneous' trip, let me know and ill join you (after i quit my job  )

Ditto. Amazing, Incredible, jaw-dropping. What an amazing place you have presented in these set of shots. I think almost everyone here in the RMNP forum wishes they were tagging along with you on this trip. :toast:

Jack....uh...what can I say? Sick stuff Man... #5 and #7 are about beautiful as they get. Is that a waterfall shooting out of the side of the mountain in #5? And whats up with those lakes that sit pretty in those perfectly carved out bowls beneath the peaks. That's crazy stuff.

EPIC to the 10th power. You need to open your own gallery in Ouray!

Every one of those kicks A! #5 is my personal fave. Great trip and great work!

Jack,
I almost cringe when you post up stuff like this -- not because it isn't absolutely brilliant (which it is), but because it makes me feel like I am really missing out on the good stuff. At least I can always appreciate the world you see through your images -- but I'd rather go to half the places you've been in the last couple years. :toast:

There are few words left to describe the quality of the photos you post from epic adventures like this. It is a real gift for us to see the beauty of places like this through your eyes and lens. Thank you, and as always, phenomenal work!

Sweet photos Jack. I actually stumbled upon them earlier today when I was on your site admiring your New Zealand photos. Last year I visited the Cordillera Blanca but it looks like I need to head back to the Cordillera Huayhuash. Were all your photos on mountain photographer from the Cordillera Huayhuash?

Looks like a great trip, Im jealous!

To say I am jealous just doesn't quite say it.. let me know if you go down there again. Your images are really fantastic. A great series to add to your collection.

What an amazing trip that must have been! So many superlative shots of unbelievable mountainscapes
I find myself yearning to go there as soon as possible. How many miles did you hike? The going must have gotten a bit slow on those 16,000ft passes, I know what 14,000 peaks feel like.

Amazing images! Those mountains look incredible!

Laguna 69 is a wonderful study of the area. Beautiful.

The forms of Yerupaja Snow Ridges are wonderful. But I think you could crop off the bottom above the glacier field and a more abstract form would develop.

Carhuacocha Sunset is really a stunning view with the calm reflection.

Nice set throughout Jack.

Cool shots!! "The eye of Mordor" is a snapshot? I need some snapshots like that! It might be my favorite of the bunch. Nice to see something from Peru other than Machu Picchu.

Wow...what to say...simply amazing!!! As usual your shots blow me away. You've again given me another place to visit someday. Your "behind the scenes" shots also show what an amazing trek it was.
