I have a show coming up here soon with all California work so I'll be posting here a lot.
Here is shot from the largerst cave / lava tube I have seen so far in Lava Beds Nat'l Monument. The place was so busy I had to rush this shot before people passed through the composition.
First shot is pretty overdone in photoshop to bring out more texture and the second just has less work done to it. I posted this in Man vs Nature. but figured why not here too.
Any suggestions are appreciated

Steve, very interesting image. Looks like you handled a difficult exposure situation very nicely. The colors in the walls are much more than I would have expected. I was at Lava Beds many, many years ago and don't remember it being so colorful. Hope your up coming show goes well. Best Regards.
Good luck with the upcoming show, Steve.
Although the first one has more pop, it also might be a bit too far out on some of the highlights. Of course one really never knows until a print is made.
I'm so glad that someone has finally made a trip to that part of the country and shared some images. Kyle K. and I used to go there every winter for 5 or 6 winters in a row and found the landscape photography even better than the waterfowl and wildlife photography. Lava Beds is a great place and you won't find any lines of people in Jan or Feb, so maybe we should organize a trip up there next winter? :-)
Thanks for sharing Steve. Like the others the Lava Beds would be a cool place - will also add it to my list.
I'm going to buck the crowd and go with the first image. Like the detail and the extra richness of the colors.

Richard, This will not be in the show, maybe some stock sales if I'm lucky.
Lon, that sounds like a great idea, I'd be up for it. I'm not sure how the snow is that area?
