Linnet
700mm f7.1 1/1000 iso400 Full Frame

Hi all

Shot through a gap in a bramble bush to produce the 'mushiest' photo I could
Beautiful birds and always a treat to see.

Interesting technique but I think the Linnet could have been clearer. Like Mark says, it looks like a painting. :toast:

Yes its certainly different, and in fact often the way you would see one of these.
It works ok for me, and I,m not really an "arty " person.

Absolutely stunning! I could watch this image for a long time.

Nothing wrong with mush Simon. Was there something close, directly in front of the bird? It looks a bit hazy. Other than that just swell.

Regards,

a very attractive image Simon, I really like the warm colours and composition. The bird itself does look slightly hazy, if it could stand out a little more it would be even better (perhaps a bit more local contrast or sharpening?)

Glad to see it's producing a range of responses - it's a shot I took about a month ago and I've always been uncertain about it. Here's a a slightly tweaked version with a little contrast added to the bird which I think helps when viewing it at web size. I'll probably keep it as shot when printing though.
Thanks for the comments.

Hi,
second one is perfect, I like it a lot.
A beautiful step away from pure natural dokuments.
A hundred years ago they called it Pictorialism.

Works for me. Really nice image. I especially like the amount of space and the sense of intimacy.

Its the first one for me Simon :toast:

In this case I love the softer image which makes it look like a painting.

I may have been tempted to remove the stray bit of web top right hand corner.

I agree with Ian its the first one for me. The more subtle tones in the Linnet work better with the "mushy" background. This is certainly a very different take and one I would now try myself. I really like this very much indeed Simon. :wavey: :toast:
