Isabelle - Sunrise
Well, at least i had a nice setting moon to make up for the lack of clouds. Also, the alpenglow was some of the best ive seen!

Sorry buddy, but even with everything you have going for them, that dirty, nasty snow in the first two is a deal-breaker for me. The other ones are excellent.

Hey Todd--dirty nasty snow is all you get in summertime--learn to love it!

You have got to try this again in 3-4 weeks when all the snow has melted. The alpenglow/sunrise is fantastic. I have seen this kind of light show up there before. #4 is outstanding! I like them all, but that one really grabs me.

Sure looks like a beautiful place!

Also not really a fan of the dirty snow, however, everything comes together perfectly on #4: the moon position, the glow on mountains/water and the comp. That image is the easy pick of this group IMO.

Actually, the snow that surrounds the outlet falls of this lake is kind of a special case. It's always egregiously ugly. I have my own shots of it from many years ago, and seeing how it looked on film, I won't even bother including it anymore unless it's cleaner.

Good point; another is that since i had never been to Isabelle before, and wasnt even familiar with others shots of the location, i ended up doing some of the same ol comps that everyone else has done (i looked after the fact). When i go back (and i plan on it) im going to get something different if it means standing on my head.

Great stuff, especially #5. But the ESS one is the winner! How come you always post your best over there? Are we just second class dirt over here?
Posted by Stan Rose on July 1, 2010 at 9:22 PM
I do it just to annoy you, Jack
Actually, from my perspective, my posts here at RMNP make you first class, cause i tend to post the ones that i personally like more here, whereas i post the ones i know are majority pleasers (lots of color, standard by-the book comps) on ESS. For example, i like the mid morning shot of red rock here much more than my ESS shot, but try convincing the ESS crowd of that--why fight a losing battle  I could post them all here, but then id be duplicating posts, which i dont feel like doing.

Love the moon in #3 and the reflection in #5 is off the charts!

Freak n' awesome Stan!!! #4 is my favorite here!! :toast:

Somehow I don't get a good vision of a 6' 6" guy standing on his head!!! I agree with the others here about image #4 being the best. I'm gonna try to get up there in about 2 weeks when the columbines are on the side of the hill just before the lake.

Agree with Jack that the ESS one is the best of the morning group, but #4 is very similar . Not sure if the bush in the LRH corner should be cropped or not on the ESS one. Like the mirror reflection in #5 as well. You had a very productive weekend. :toast:

Definitely some nice alpenglow.
