Red Fox Cub
I have not had much time for photographing UK wildlife this summer because of being away so much, so it has been nice to have a family of Foxes in my mother-in-laws garden. This one is always the first to appear and he is very bold.

Canon 1D MK4, 500mm Lens, F4, 1/100, ISO 200

Normally can't get a word in edgeways as everybody try to get their comps in rightaway... but now that I get a chance, I'm not sure what to crit really mate - can you not put some crap shots in for a change? :frown: I think had you not got the foreground flowers it wouldn't have been a Danny shot. But you did, so there. [So a pointless comment really cause there's nothing to add to a shot like this!]

Cheers,

Des :toast: :wavey: :toast:

PS: Did call to have a chat few weeks back but you're in Iceland at the time...

I think Danny, Des has hit the nial on the head here and put into words what I have verbally said. HA is spot on, love the inquisitive look, thank God you & Edwin don't post at the same time.

Look forward to more. :toast:

Good one Danny, may not be such a common sight next year I reckon.

Had a close encounter with a 'farmland' fox family last weekend. I'd love to get something like this if I get to see them again. I fear however that they will be far too skittish.

Super shot Danny - love the intimacy.

Dare I suggest removing the single OOF flower that stands taller than the rest ? Very minor nit, but it does draw my eye......... :wavey:

tell ya mom to get the lawnmower out or will you do it in exchange?
Its a great excuse to visit your mother in law ,even if you do it oh so frequently ...LOL
Liked it when I first saw it .I aint suggesting you remove owt cuz you wont anyway .
In such a confined space of a back garden its a sterling image .
Charlie says hi. was just about to post him , but i'll wait...

Now bugger off and let us plebs have a play....

Hello Graham

Of course you can dare  but I won't do it because I don't do it. I am not saying don't if you feel you need too and I am not preaching to anyone either. I just feel that we nowadays just have to make the perfect image and I think we have gone over the top. I am always interested in peoples views on cloning and I like to believe there are still people out there that don't.

This is a cracker Danny, love the framing and the flowers at the bottom of the frame work well. Enjoy Svalbard!

I really love how the fox if looking right into the lens and the slightly OOF body makes the face all the more prominent. I am with you all the way Danny. I get fed up with the numberous comments of "remove this remove that". Are we photographing a subject in its natural setting and showing it as it is or are we removing everything we can to give that "perfect background". Yes subjects can look stunning with a plain background but at times they can look quite boring and unnatural. The idea is after all to photograph nature is it not. :wavey: P.S. Kato sends his regards

Hi Danny,

The eyes and the stare just lock you into this image.
I am glad to see someone else keeping the ISO down on a MK4 !

Cheers

A well executed shot as always Danny but for me the cubs pose is a bit ungainly and unbalanced. The inquisitive look is great but the direction of the line of sight being slightly to the ground in front of the camera position means that the eye contact is not quite there.

Thanks for the reply Danny - I guess I knew what your answer would be, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Sorry if the suggestion upset you Maggie, but this is a forum and it wouldn't work without healthy debate would it :wavey:
