I have seen several referances to EXIF, not sure what it is. When I open a jpeg, it is under the properties window, but shows nothing but numbers. In the Digital Professional Photo that I use for RAW it is not on the INFO window. Is this something that has to be set pre exposure in the camera?
EXIF is the shooting data that a digital camera embeds into the file when you take a shot. Stuff like ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focal length, date and time of the actual shot, the actuation number of that shot for your camera, etc. You can add to this data set (your name, copyright, web site url, etc.) when you import the image to your computer with certain programs, or in Bridge, or when post processing in Photoshop.
Using Save for Web in Photoshop strips out the EXIF to make the file size as small as possible.
There are probably proprietary fields in EXIF as well, particular to each camera brand.
There are lots of small utility programs for Mac and PC that will read EXIF from any file that contains it.
Here's the EXIF that shows in your thrasher image. Somewhere in your work flow the EXIF is being stripped out - perhaps by the Microsoft program that inserts its name in the EXIF.
