Ranching Country West of Fort Worth
I have been spending a lot of my last few weekends driving in the grasslands west of Fort Worth looking for images. Here are a couple. Both from the 4x5 with the 75mm lens (thats about a 24mm for DSLR folks). The road image here was on Efke B+W film.

And another that was on Velvia 100 and converted to monochrome in CS5.

Hey Darren, I like them both.. I have driven that part of the country, along with farther north around Amarillo, quite a few times and you have captured the openess and beauty that most folks call "Empty flat land". The clouds really make the shots along with the b&w transition.

Well done......

Great shots Darren!!! The black and white really works. Great contrast in both photo.

I think the edges of the horizon in the first photo are level but my eyes wonder if lowering the right horizon very slightly might make this more pleasing? Something about the road makes me want to lean to the left--maybe that's good--don't know.

Very nice work.

I like them both, but the first one with the road is great. I love 'country' road shots and I really like what seems to be a curve in the road right as it disappears into the horizon. Really makes me want to drive that road and see where it goes.

Darren, both are really nice, but my favorite is #1. A pano crop from the top may work?

Both are really nice, Darren, but the first one is a particularly striking composition. Beautiful.

These are both very nice Darren. I lean toward the first one as my favorite of the two. Great cloud action and the disappearing road entices one to wonder where it goes. Thanks for sharing.
