Sand Martin on Willow Herb
Bit Arty for old Robbo ! Just a single bird in this one.
Sat in the pool hide on Saturday waiting for the Martins to come in and bathe and then use the reeds tp perch on.. They finally arrived at 8 o clock and all started perching on the Willow herb, and fighting for places. The wind was blowing the stems all over the place, and they were up and down as one bird left and another landed etc. The late sun was low behind me with a blue sky in front. I got a lot of shots and then realised the camera was on high contrast ! How it got altered I don’t know. So theres a bit lost in the processing and the colour was strange and the birds were a long way off , Apart from that !!

Its probably late light but it looks a little yellow to me, I have had a little play and I think an adjustment of +28 of the blue in colour balance helps.

Thats exactly what I did on a whole range of the same shot - took the blue up to about 30 at one stage,
but then I came back to the oriignal and thought that's how it was at that time of the day, so I left it . It can be altered either way at any time I suppose.

I'm liking your 'Arty' work John.. Also the fact that you are getting these birds perching on so many different things. I can see what is being discussed about the colour and might expect the birds to be a brown or pale grey in colour but this looks a little yellow/green.
Hi John.
Came back to this,i am a bit confused about the green on this bird i have been chasing them all this week and i heve yet to see a green one ,is this cs3?,still a very nice shot. Keith.

It's reflection off the grass !
Ive just checked the colour balance on various areas of whites _
Red 239,238,239,237
Green 236,236,237,229
Blue 229,253,253,218
There doesn't seem to be a grren problem to me. But that will open another colour arguement and we're all colour blind anyway.
Whats wrong with a green martin anyway

Very nice image and great composition.

Kind regards,

Here's one with the blue added. It's lost some of that late evening warmth to me, but whatever.
