Uncompahgre Plateau: Divide Road & Columbine Pass?

I'm planning a multi-day motorcycle ride this weekend and I'd like to ride the length of the Divide Road over Columbine Pass and dropping down into either Montrose to the east or Nucla to the west. I'd appreciate any information on the road conditions, sights to see, etc.

Hi Brett. You dont know me but we have a mutual aquaintance in JoAnn Moon. She suggested I visit this site and look for your posts, knowing that I too enjoy photography and riding. Last fall I rode the Divide Road from Unaweep Canyon to Dallas Divide on a somewhat snowy day. The road is fine, all graded and graveled. This year I started the same road, but dropped down into Gateway instead. That was a bit more challanging because the grader was working and had pilled up loose gravel and rocks. The drop off on the last few miles is a little puckery but worth it for the views. Didn't get much in the way of memorable photos other than one of my bike, but so it goes.
