Young G. S.Woodpecker. + repost
Taken from a hide in the back garden. The bird is a local resident, the section of tree was in a wood about 20 miles away and transported to my garden and I've no idea where the peanuts originated.
Canon 1D Mk11N,300+1.4 canon lens,1/160 f7.1 and iso 400.

Plenty of these around at the moment. Good shot Phil but I think the bird seems a little flat
(Not like run over  ) The whites need lifting to give it that bit of guts.Although some might think the tree dominates a bit I quite like it.
Cheers

Nice setting Phil.

Agree with John, easy fixed Phil and it does look much better, it needs the 'pop' factor. Good detail in the feather, but just wonder if you need to knock the sharpening back a fraction elsewhere?

Nice piece of wood.

Agree with John and Steve the whites need lifting a bit and that will make the image "pop" a bit more.

I've no problem with the tree (it's a woodpecker after all!) but that fungus is a bit distracting for me.

I've tried to re work this image.
If it's any better,it's thanks to the advice of Steve K.
If it's not,it's down to my shortcomings in the world of computers.
Thanks for looking and all comments.

Nits covered and it's a shame about he bracket fungus as I think it competes a little with the bird.

Kind regards,
