Canadian Rockies Landscapes
Rod Chandler and I Promised some landscape pics from our recent Canadian Rockies trip in June. Would like to thank Darren Kilgore for his input and use of his maps from previous trips. We were a little early for most flowers. The Icefield Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper has been called the most scenic paved road in the world- I would tend to agree. Even though the Canadian Rockies are lower in altitude compared to Colorado some of the lakes still had ice in spots.

4. The one flower that really caught our eye- Calypso Orchid- very tiny flower.

7. Peyto Lake- you have probably seen many pics of this lake. I always thought this was the work of photoshop but, the colors are real believe me.

8. Moraine Lake- This lake was on the paper currency of Canada. Completely iced over the first week there. Went back a week later and it was open but, low water levels. Canadians said that spring was cool like our Colorado spring and snow melt was at least 2 weeks late.

9. Last one- I promise- 2 Jack Lake sunrise. Banff National Park. We had to sleep in 3 mornings
because of weather otherwise up about 4:30 a.m. and shooting til after 10 p.m. Long days in the Canadian Rockies. Hope you enjoy a little documentary from our trip.

I think you will agree, Bob's work is phenomenal. He is a great companion on a trip. I learned a great deal from him and had a wonderful time. We have vowed to return to Alberta because there simply are so many opportunities for great images up there. Also, the Canadians really do a nice job of hosting guests, whether in restaurants, motels or the parks information facilities. I am off for a month in Australia today. (Our daughter lives there.) When I return I will try to post some Canada pics.

Great series, Bob. Alberta is a gorgeous place and you've represented it well. My favorite is Moraine and Peyto lakes, but 1 is sure eye catching as well.

Very nice set, Bob. I have never been north of Glacier National Park, so you are really making my mouth water with these shots! They are the most dramatic and photogenic peaks in the North American Continent, I think. :toast:
