Marla and I backpacked to timberline in the Stewart Creek drainage of the LaGaritas over the 4th. Our plan to be on San Luis Peak for sunrise on the 5th was thwarted by sub-zero wind chills and knock you over winds at 13,300'. After a retreat, long nap and lots of coffee, we trekked back up and summitted that afternoon in less than ideal photo conditions. Ironically, anyone coming up the trail later would never know about the snow and winter conditions. Props to my wife and dog, Abby for braving the heinous elements so I could make pretty pictures.
This image is sunset that evening from our camp. The eastern view captures some of the Cochetopa Hills and hulking Mt. Ouray, 13,971'.
Haha, yes, my wife is marla and Abby is our 9 1/2 y.o. adopted yellow lab. And thanks for the comments, folks. This is one of those places where I always feel like I should be above 13K - surveying the whole landscape.

Btw, Abby is your wife and dog? I thought your wife's name was Marla.
