Spotted Flycatcher on lichen twig.
One of the birds that nested in the garden this year, prior to flying into the nest with food.

Nice pose and an interesting perch Phil. Food in the beak and a good catchlight is a bonus.

I might crop some of the perch away at the bottom.

Cheers

Hello Phil.

Beautiful capture and the composition and detail is spot on for me.

I disagree with Austin about cropping the perch as I think it is balanced just right as it is. Totally agree with rest of the comments though. A lovely image.

Certainly a striking image Phil, with a strong BG.

Perhaps just a fraction of the bottom Phil, still retaining the 'dog leg' as it makes it a cleaner finish, say 12mm, maybe less?

Morning Phil et al,

Just to clarify my perch comment. I really like the perch, the colours on the perch immediately below the bird complement the colours in the BKGR and the paler greens/ greys lower down the perch go well with the birds colouring. The thickness is also very suitable and natural looking for the bird.

To my taste, including so much of the perch has made the crop long and thin hence the suggestion to remove some off the bottom. Alternatively, again only for my taste, I would add more canvas to balance the image.

Cheers

Great image Phil

You will need to be on the look out for the size police.
