Here's a shot from last year. I think I posted a verticle comp from here...but Ned did these falls much better than I ...I think. I'd like to hear what you think about the log accross the frame, and the placement of the falls on the left side here.
Does this scene work or is it off a little?

Rick, I agree with Mike that the left side is a bit too bright. Burn the highlights and midtones a bit and it will be great. I looked at it with and without the foreground log. Not sure which is better. I think I lean toward a crop without the log maintaining the same proportions cropped from the bottom right.
Glad to hear you are getting your camera back. Hope to see you soon.

I like the image too, if it were mine I would burn in the left side and crop out the log.

I'm with Zack - the water is a great bottom of the image and with the left side toned down, it'll be sweet. Which falls is this ? In the Gorge ? Inquiring newbie to PNW Waterfalls wants to know
Rick this is a small nit, but I'd rotate the shot CCW just a bit - that line at the top of the falls is off and make the shot tilt just a bit to me.....
Here's a version with the suggestions. I like it better, but it still doesn't seem right. I can't remember the names of this fall, but it is about 4 hours south of Portland, on the way to Diamond Lake...along the North Umpqua River. You would think I would remember the name of these falls, as it was the perfect spot to take chicks to right after I got my driver's license back in high school
