Nat, you probably already know but the park does not open efore sunrise normally, unless it is an early opening day. Again sorry if I am telling you something you already know. =)
Nat,
I don't have a map, but for starters I would begin by taking the short hike from the Visitor Center past the Fountain Valley Overlook and towards the Lyons Overlook. The trail splits, Right (NE) towards the Lyons Overlook, or left (NW) through the main valley floor. If you want more grand scenic vistas of the park, I would suggest taking the right to Lyons overlook. If you want more intimate rock shots, I would stay on the valley floor. These trails converge in a loop, so either way will eventually take you full circle. You'll see plenty of Wildflowers if they're still holding up along this loop, especially at the beginning where the trail first splits. Have fun and look out for wildlife!
Nat, I would ditto what Koveh said about the opening of the park. It does not open until 7:00 a.m., but still some great shots to be had. I also would ditto what Jared said about locations. I really like the right split towards Lyons Overlook early in the morning, and the overlook has some great views both north and south through the park. But there is plenty of scenery along the left fork of the Fountain Valley trail as well, and wildflowers were everywhere you looked last time we were there. I hope they still are cranking for your visit. After that hike I would still recommend the Willow Creek trail too. Tons of wild bee balm and other flowers and different views of rocks. Follow it all the way from the visitor's center to where it comes back to the entrance road and you will see the blooms of bee balm that Stan posted in his shots.
Good shooting, Nat!

4 repliesI'm going down to shoot Roxborough tomorrow morning.
I've never shot there before and haven't had time to scout this week.
Since some of you have been there recently (Stan, Morris et al)... would you be willing to share with me some suggestions for good shooting locations?
Ideally, if you could email me and/or post a park map with some locations circled, that would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance for your help!
