Hi Maggie

Great subject, lovely background but the comp doesn't quite work for me. Perhaps placing the subject higher and slightly more to the left would improve things? Skillful photography nonetheless.

Cheers,
Chris

Beautiful colours producing a fine image. If you like the comp, then it's fine by me.

Good exposure and PoV - but good composition is just as vital Maggie, otherwise the image just looks like a "happy snap".

You know the composition rules so why abandon them?

Nit covered. Lovely lighting and feel to this Maggie. I'd be well chuffed to get something as nice.

Agree on composition should be a bit higher in the frame but this is a lovely shot Maggie, well done :toast: :toast:

I agree generally but the comp could work like this. I think I can see why you've done it too.
getting the main item in the subject bottom left ?
I'd be a little more concerned about the oof wing tip.
Cheers

Thanks all for your kind comments. I do seem to have a continuing problem with composition. I don't know what it is - except that its b****y annoying

Hello Maggie.

Image works as is for me but yes the composition could be stronger.

When photographing butterflies side on I find it helps if you angle the stem of the plant instead of being straight. This will leave more room for the subject and improve composition and make a more frame filling image.

I do like the colours in this and the background works very well with the subject.
