Painted Dunes
This was a battle with the edges! The trees that is, it took a while to find something but I ended cropping a tiny bit off the right side.

Well composed, Steve. I like the shapes, colors, and lines. The trees nicely
add to the landscape. It looks like you profited from wonderful light. The periodic
splotches in the sand add a bit of texture. All in all, well done.

The textures.colors and shadows are almost enough by theselves, but that splash of bright green scattered through the image by the trees raise to that next level. I'l bet this wasn't easy to compose.

Very cool, Steve. Sort of a volcanic Palouse.

Oh you made out there! Cool! I've been wanting to go ever since I first saw images from there... next spring perhaps, on my way up north... Sweet composition with the isolated stand of trees.

Nice photo. It has a surreal look to it. At first I though it was a set!!

Thank you guys.

Tony, playing with the bellows or a TS lens could really do some miniature magic. You could imagine that combined with some more illustrated type of processing would make this image look like. Here's the RAW after it's curves adjustment. I like them both but I'm bigger on the heavy shadows. One thing you have to watch is the trees turning neon because they're backlit and all other color is bland in comparison. Very interesting place, I hate to only process just one but maybe I'll share some more from this morning shoot besides the one in ESS.

I agree with Tony - when your image initially came up on my monitor I thought it was a set. All the little "humps, bumps and roll" look so smooth.
Hats off on the composition and the clarity.
