Sunset on Half Dome at Olmsted Point, Yosemite NP
I took this image in June on a return trip
from the Eastern Sierra. Minutes earlier
I got some nice sunset shots from Tenaya
Lake which I have recently posted in the
California Forum for which I have received
many helpful critiques.

Sharpening is the only thing that I've done
with this image.

I appreciate your comments/critiques

Robert, This a fantastic view.

You said, 'Sharpening is the only thing that I've done with this image.'

I think it needs more developing. It's quite dark. Nearly every file from a digicam does.

Thanks, Jeffrey, for the suggestion. In the repost here, I've tried
to brighten the image as well as work on the contrast. I would
appreciate your follow-up opinion.

I was about to agree with Jeffery when you repost appeared. Much better with the shadows opened up. Composition wise I like your FG tree. IMO I would not have lightened the sky just Half Dome and it's connecting mountain.

Robert,

This must be from the extreme west end of Olmstead point or maybe my memory fails me, pprobably the latter. IMO i think the best would be somewhere in between the original and the 2nd. It's well composed and well worth processing several different ways.

I like the subjects tree and dome here Rob. You can darken the blue part of the sky probably just by adding contrast there. I don't think you need all of the sky up on top.

looks to have been a spectacular sunset! some of the softness might be from the atmosphere. I like the second one!
