I spent 5 days on a backpacking loop in the Weminuche Wilderness this last week. My favorites shots are some panos that are a bit too large to post here, but you can see all the photos here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery/weminuche-backpacking-loop/
Jack... they are awesome... many beautiful shots...looks like you had quite an adventure and mother nature presented you with some great light!! Sunrise and Dawn on the Needles Mountains are easily my favorites...bugs eye view is very creative...Sunrise alpen glow on The Guardian and Mt.Silex is awesome also...
Fantastic, Jack! I love the panos and bugs eye view is too cool

A classic Brauer collection from one of my favorite areas of Colorado! Although I love all the big mountain scenes, "A bug's-eye view..." is simply astonishing. Who thinks of that?!
I just noticed in the shots from that high ridge that you've got a distant view of Windom, Sunlight and Jagged. (I know you said Needle Mountains, even though the dominant peaks are the Grenadiers, but I digress...) I'm pleased to see that much snow hanging on in Sunlight Basin. So much of what I've seen of the San Juans has looked so devoid of snow.
About the "bug's eye view"... that was a fun one to shoot. I used the 24mm tilt/shift lens and had it at full upwards tilt to get it all in focus. Would have been impossible to do without that lens!
Todd - Thanks for the correction about the Grenadiers; I knew that but it didn't cross my mind... I tend to think of that whole area as the Needle Mountains. I guess that would be more specific.
Also, here's a tele shot of Sunlight Basin for you!
Bugs eye view! Love to hear the Lightning story. Yikes, I don't like lightning at treeline in a tent. At12,000-ft + It basically feels like if you get hit, you explode into a thousand pieces.
(Hmm, that killer shot would sure look nice in a calendar...)
If you zoom in to that shot, Jack, can you see either of the large lakes in Sunlight Basin?
Also, speaking of the 24mm lens' upward (backward?) tilt, we tend to forget that those lenses tilt equally in both directions! Glad you took advantage.
Jack, I am always impressed with your consistent fine quality photos as well as your efforts to get to new an unique areas. A fine group of photos. Yes, the bug eye's view was pretty neat!
