Has anybody heard from anyone or anywhere when this camera will be coming out? I was hoping it would be out now (mid march) but no word. I'm heading home to Miami in 2 weeks, and had some places planned for shooting. But I have no camera, because I sold my Digital Rebel. Amazon has the 30D listed for a late May release :(. But other places are still saying mid march...which is now. I'm so used to following products like Apple, and they always give a hard release date. The suspense is killing me Canon!! Anyone have any inside info on the release?

Available in Canada and other foriegn markets. Many Aussies and Europeans have the 30D. Canadians just getting them this week. Not in the U.S. yet...
Maybe I'm feeling cynical, but I wouldn't trust any dealer offering a $200 discount on a camera that hasn't been released yet...

yeh.....I really don't trust any online retailers other than B&H. If they don't have it, I don't think anyone really does here in the U.S. I hope this thing comes out soon!!

As of today, I don't even trust B&H. I ordered a lens and a hood. THey sent only the hood and printed up a packing list that says that they sent both in the box, even though the box wasn't even large enough to fit a lens.

I think I've had them send things in two shipments but the packing slip said both... I thought there was some not-obvious indicator that the other item(s) were actually not shipped in the box.
If not, I'd call; they've been nothing less than professional when I've dealt with them.

They are closed on Fridays, so I could not call. That's possible (2 boxes), but I also received a 5D from them today and it was not in that box either. The UPS guy missed my house and I had to drive down broadway and track him down...a long day. I sure hope the lens shows up. Otherwise, they might look at their records and say that it was in fact packed...in which case I'm going to have to go Reno style over the phone.

Yes Les, there is. Are you sure that's what the list says Scott? I recently ordered several things at once, and I guess because one was from the used department (a lens hood actually) they had to ship it separate. The packing lists are identical except for the qty shipped column - there's a numeral one next to each item that was in a given box, and an asterisk next to those that are in the other box.
Shipping is kind of stupid this way. I bet it cost them the same or less to send two packages, despite the fact they could have fit not only the hood, but the complete outer box and packing materials that shipped in all inside the other box. With room to spare. I hear about these waste laws in Europe and boy do I wish the US was a little more enviro-friendly.
And you can always check your order status - it should have two boxes if there are, and tracking numbers for each. Otherwise, yeah, give 'em a call.

I checked out the status page. Les, you were right. It is coming in another box. The thing that really threw me off was seeing that the packing slip had a "1" quantity behind both items. I sure wish that they would have told me...and now...on with the real topic of the post...inside info on the 30D (sorry to sway the direction of this post).

There's a post over at DPReview that says Circuit City will have them April 5th, but I couldn't find that anywhere on their website. I believe the plan is for most U.S. dealers to receive the 30D on roughly the same date. I don't think online dealers will have them any sooner than anyone else. I'll probably pick mine up from a local shop (the online dealers won't have any better prices either).
FWIW, I'm waiting too - and hope to have the 30D for a weekend trip to San Diego for a family wedding on April 15th.

Just a follow-up...
Many retailers are starting to get the Canon 30D in stock. I ordered mine yesterday from http://www.pictureline.com in Salt Lake City (reputable retailer). Online orders qualify for free shipping. I should get it Wednesday or Thursday.
