Some blazing star and Yellow Cone flowers. From the praire restoration area at UCA. These were taken Saturday morning. I have made a few trips over here lately and I feel like I have been struggling to find great shots. Let me know what you think.
These are nice, Matthew. You caught most of the blooms at peak or nearly so. Did they burn this last year...looks like the bloom was fairly strong here.
I know what you mean about struggling for compositions, sometimes you just have to enjoy the beauty.
I may be wrong but I think that's yellow coneflower (Echinacea paradoxa) mixed with the blazing star. The disks look a bit large for black-eyed susans, and the drooping flowers seem to suggest coneflower.
It probably is yellow coneflower. I had a feeling it wasn't black eyed susan but I couldn't think of what else it could be. Yes they burn this every spring.
I agree it looks like a coneflower. I have a ton in my back yard but the blazing star aren't blooming yet. 2 and 3 are my favorites. Looks like a nice restoration.
